1. Be kind and respectful
Treat everyone at the table the way you would like to be treated. Listen as much as you talk.
Welcome people who are different from you. Do not make jokes or comments about someone's race, religion, gender, age, body, disability, background or sexuality.
You do not have to agree with everyone. Disagree politely, and let a topic go if it makes someone uncomfortable.
2. Show up and be on time
Five other people are counting on you. Please arrive on time, or a little early.
If you are running late, message the Event Captain if you can.
Come with an open mind and put your phone away for the evening.
3. Cancel early
Plans change. If you cannot come, cancel as early as you can so someone else can take your seat.
Not showing up and not telling anyone is the one thing we ask you never to do. Repeated no shows can lead to a pause on your account.
4. No selling or pitching
Lebomo is for making friends, not for work leads. Please do not sell, promote your business, recruit for a company or hand out flyers.
Please do not push a political, religious or other cause on people at the table.
Talking about your job or your passions when asked is fine. Making it a pitch is not.
5. No harassment or pressure
Harassment of any kind is not allowed. This includes unwanted touching, staring, rude remarks, following someone, and repeated messages after someone says no.
Lebomo is not a dating event. Please do not pressure anyone for a date, a phone number, or a drink after dinner. Friendships can grow on their own, and everyone has the right to say no.
If someone says no or seems uncomfortable, stop at once. Never ask for personal contact details more than once.
Keep your hands to yourself and do not make comments about anyone's looks.
6. Drink responsibly
You never have to drink alcohol. Nobody should push you to, and you should not push anybody else.
If you drink, know your limit. Never drive after drinking, and plan a safe way home.
Alcohol is only for people of legal drinking age. Follow the venue's rules.
Being drunk is no excuse for bad behaviour. You are still responsible for how you act.
7. Photos and privacy
Ask before taking a photo or video of anyone, and ask before sharing it online. If someone says no, delete it.
We share only first names within a group. Please do not look for someone's full details or contact them in ways they have not agreed to.
What people tell you at the table is theirs to share. Keep personal stories to yourself unless you were told you could pass them on.
8. Looking after each other and reporting a problem
If something does not feel right, trust your feeling. You can move seats, take a break or leave. You do not have to explain.
If you see someone being treated badly, speak up kindly or tell the captain. Look out for each other.
To report a problem, tell your Event Captain or write to us at legal@saurabhmaskara.com. We will read every report and keep it as private as we can.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
Please do not retaliate against anyone who made a report in good faith.
9. What happens if rules are broken
We look at each case fairly. We try to hear from everyone involved, and we look at how serious it was.
Depending on what happened, we may give a friendly reminder, a warning, a pause on booking, or close the account for good.
For serious harm, such as violence, threats or sexual harassment, we may close an account straight away. We may also share information with the police when needed.
If you think we got it wrong, write to legal@saurabhmaskara.com and ask us to look again.
10. For Event Captains and City Ambassadors
You are an independent volunteer, not an employee of Sunrise Tools and Bolts CC. Thank you for giving your time.
Welcome everyone warmly, make sure no one is left out, and help quiet guests join the conversation.
Do not use guest information, such as names or dietary needs, for anything other than running the event. Keep it private.
Do not take payments from guests for Lebomo. Any venue deal is between you and the venue, and you must be open with guests about it.
Act fairly and without favourites. Do not pressure guests to buy more, drink more or stay longer.
If a guest breaks these guidelines or someone reports a problem, act calmly, keep people safe, and tell us at legal@saurabhmaskara.com as soon as you can.
